New Tipp sponsors to be named within weeks - The Irish Times - Wed, Mar 30, 2011

New Tipp sponsors to be named within weeks - The Irish Times - Wed, Mar 30, 2011:

"NEWS ROUND-UP: THE TIPPERARY County Board are confident they will have a new sponsor in place well in advance of the championship.

It was confirmed yesterday Enfer Scientific would be ending their 10-year sponsorship of Tipp hurling and football, across all grades, with the conclusion of the 2011 Allianz National Leagues.

It means Tipperary will defend their All-Ireland hurling title with new sponsors – negotiations have been under way with a replacement sponsor for the past number of weeks, and details of that deal – which is understood to be very close to fruition – is expected to be announced within weeks.

It is also expected the replacement sponsors will once again apply across all grades of hurling and football, as the Enfer deal did. The conclusion of the Enfer deal has been described as very amicable, and Tipperary County Board chairman Barry O’Brien paid tribute to their input over the last 10 years.

Just a little fun from the editor -

Conundrum: Anniversary Dinners

A group of old engineering buddies , aged around 40 years, discussed where
they should meet for dinner.

Finally it was agreed upon that they should meet at the Ocean View
restaurant because the waitress's there had low cut blouses and were very
young.

Ten years later at 50 years of age, the group once again discussed where
they should meet for dinner. Finally it was agreed that they should meet at
the Ocean View restaurant because the food there was very good and the wine
selection was good also.

Ten years later at 60 years of age, the group once again discussed where
they should meet for dinner. Finally it was agreed that they should meet at
the Ocean View restaurant because they could eat there in peace and quiet
and the restaurant had a beautiful view of the ocean.

Ten years later, at 70 years of age, the group once again discussed where
they should meet for dinner. Finally it was agreed that they should meet at
the Ocean View restaurant because the restaurant was wheel chair accessible
and they even had a lift.

Ten years later, at 80 years of age, the group once again discussed where
they should meet for dinner. Finally it was agreed that they should meet at
the Ocean View restaurant because they had never been there before.

Winter's Bone - Thursday the 24th of March at 8pm €6

Director: Debra Granik. USA 2010. 100 mins

Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, John Hawkes, Dale Dickey, Garret Dillahunt

A realistically gritty Hillbilly-Noir set in the Ozarks, where crack is the modern moonshine and joining the army one of the few career options available. Seventeen year old Ree (Jennifer Lawrence) who minds her two small siblings and her dysfunctional mother tries to track down her errant drug-dealing father who has posted their home as bail bond. It is a harrowing slow burner, peppered with a singular cast of misfits and miscreants and an awesome landscape.

Last day in Ireland

A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Kenmare, Ireland by TravelPod blogger Peter_ginger titled “Last Day in Kenmare and the best road in the world” Peter_ginger’s travel blog entry: “FRIDAY — SEPT 10th Today we work up again with rain on the window pane and I made an executive decision that we would nix the Skellig Island (www.skelligislands.com trip again and not having internet access now for 2 days was making me a bit **** as you would really think that a nice B&B like this would be some kind of basic infrastructure into place for customers to have that access — which they promote all over their web site. So Ginger and made a list of things we needed to do as well as a drive today that would DEFINE any road I have driven in my 40 years on this planet (more on that that in a bit). So first (Irish tone here) thing was ATM, Gas for the Fiat, and look at how much it would cost to ship some items back home. So off we went and I jumped into O’Shea’s Laundromat and got online to upload pics from 2 days ago….at a crawl. Seriously like 56k slow on their network. So I sat there today writing about yesterday and resizing pics while I was uploading our Wednesday update while Ginger went to investigate the post options. She comes back with a frown and with her suitcase (the small suitcase had all the small gifts in it) and she said “well, that was a bust!” and turns out we were at 70 euro to ship a box (and not that heavy mind you). So we will bring back with us …

Kenmare Bay Hotel voted best overall wedding venue!

The Kenmare Bay Hotel & Resort was recently voted best overall wedding venue of the year! It's a great honour and we'd like to thank everyone who voted for us.

I think it's fair to say that we are popular with brides and grooms in the key areas of our Banqueting Suite, our food and our staff. But we are also lucky enough to be situated on the edge of the beautiful little town of Kenmare. Anyone who has visited Kenmare will know what I'm talking about. It not only offers award-winning restaurants, more pubs than you can shake a stick at and several unusual, quirky shops but it also has a great atmosphere and lively night life with late night bar extensions and live music in several of the bars. We've hosted several weddings at the Kenmare Bay Hotel where the couple was from Dublin, Limerick, Northern Ireland, England etc and in each case most of their guests made a weekend of the wedding - some choosing to stay in our holiday homes or luxury lodges - and then made full use of Kenmare town, which is only a short stroll from the hotel via a pathway. There's so much to see and do in and around Kenmare - walking, golf, horse-riding, land & water-based activities, pet farms - it's worth staying a couple of nights or more.

We can cater for weddings from 50 to 350 guests. If you would like to find out more about the Kenmare Bay Hotel & Resort, please contact Sue on 064 66 41300 or sue@kenmarebayhotel.com. www.kenmarebayhotel.com
